I'm Kala, the founder of DIBSupports. With over 7 years of experience in developmental services, my mission is to ensure that people, regardless of their ability level, get "DIBS" on their own life and the supports they receive. I believe in trust, honesty, respect, and positive change.
A Little About My Journey
My path began in Child & Youth Care, with a focus on mental health and addiction for youth. However, after starting a relief job at a group home, I found my true calling in the developmental services field. I never expected the people I supported to bring so much light and adventure into my life. DIBS is my way of empowering others and providing advocacy and opportunities for everyone in this community.
What You Can Expect
At DIBS, I’m known for advocating fearlessly and pushing the limits of support to help people access the opportunities they deserve. I offer custom services and community events, as I believe everyone’s needs and goals are unique. My approach is all about collaboration and getting to know the people I work with.
Why "DIBS"?
Choosing a business name wasn’t easy, but when I thought of "DIBS," I immediately visualized people calling it out to claim the front seat of the car
(something they want). I felt this term was fun, yet empowering. For me, it represents advocating for yourself and having the power to make choices—something I believe everyone deserves. Often, individuals with developmental disabilities are sidelined because of safety concerns, miscommunication, policy in group homes or organizations. But if I can make choices for myself, why can't they? DIBS is about finding the underlying wants and needs, and breaking down barriers to help people reach their goals in attainable ways.
DIBS vs. DIBSupports: What's the Difference?
DIBS is an acronym and the nickname of the business. DIBS stands for Developing Individualized Bespoke Supports. Bespoke is another word meaning custom. It means everything we develop is created for the wants and needs of individuals, but also remains customizable throughout the process. We’re always evolving, taking feedback to make sure our services are exactly what you need.
The name "DIBSupports" is simply our legal business name, ensuring we stand out while keeping it simple.

Outside of Work
When I'm not working, you can find me listening to music creating art, organizing things and cooking. I love paddle boarding, geocaching, being outdoors, and I’m always up for a good movie.
